Han Thuyen Hospital
A fragmented pair of buildings is unified behind one undulating louvred veil, its sky-blue-to-orange gradient turning the hospital's own logo into a streetfront landmark.
Located near the five-way intersection of Lò Đúc, Phan Chu Trinh, Hàm Long, Lê Văn Hưu and Hàn Thuyên streets, the building enjoys wide, direct sightlines from multiple approaches. After the site was expanded to the left, two building blocks stood side by side but without architectural coherence, resulting in a fragmented façade that lacked a clear identity for a medical and aesthetic brand. The design concept draws inspiration from youthful beauty and soft, flowing curves, the essence of aesthetic medicine. This curve is abstracted into an undulating veil that wraps the entire façade, merging the two blocks into a single, unified elevation that is imposing and full of movement. The veil is developed into an aluminum-alloy louver system, mounted on a 40×80mm steel box frame. Beyond its aesthetic value, the louver system serves to shield against sun and rain, reduce solar radiation, and diffuse light, creating a comfortable microclimate for the interior spaces. In terms of color, the two blocks are repainted in blue tones and clad in a louver system that gradates from dark to light, while the stair core is transformed into a striking orange glass box. Sky blue and orange are the two colors of the hospital's logo, allowing the building to become a vivid, modern, and vibrant landmark in the heart of the old quarter.
