Sir Mit Coffee

The project takes place within an old villa in Thảo Điền. Rather than pursuing a deep renovation, the approach chooses to preserve the existing structure and spirit of the house, intervening on what is already there so the space continues to carry the traces of time. The owner is a lover of Japanese culture and Ghibli films, and wished for the house to feel as though it had stepped out of those very movies. From this, the space is guided by soft lighting, poetic little corners, and greenery weaving through each area, along with a touch of deliberate clutter that preserves the texture of everyday life. Arched doorways, wooden staircases, and shelves brimming with detail lead visitors through layer after layer of space, like turning the pages of a story. Material is at the core of the project. Recycled materials are the top priority, especially reclaimed wood for the flooring, staircase, furniture, and decorative elements. The aged wood surfaces, with their natural grain and color, bring a sense of warmth while reducing environmental impact, in keeping with the project's spirit of renovation and preservation.
